Maintaining Your Laminate Flooring

Below are our suggestions on how best to care for your floor.

  • Your laminate flooring is best maintained in climate-controlled conditions of 75° Fahrenheit with humidity levels between 45% and 65%.
  • Always wipe up spills promptly, and dry the spill area to prevent residues from sticky substances spilled.
  • Use a vacuum with a non-beater bar attachment to remove everyday dirt.
  • Use slightly damp sponge mop and plain warm water for dust or spot removal. (Lightly buff the flooring surface dry if your area has hard water that may leave spots.
  • For more difficult stains like markers or shoe polish, apply diluted acetone (nail polish remover) to a cloth and wipe the spot away. (Never apply acetone or other solvents directly on the flooring.)
  • Use walk off mats at all outside entry doorways, (both inside and outside), to trap sand or grit before it reaches the flooring surface.
  • Use felt pads for furniture legs and rubber pads for heavier appliances that will rest on the flooring surface. (Furniture that has metal domes or small narrow load surfaces should have wider, smooth, protective load-bearing devices installed.)
  • Use caution when moving heavy furniture on the laminate flooring surface. (Do not slide furniture across the flooring surface!)
  • Never use waxes, polishes or any type of finishing compounds on your laminate flooring.
